Texas Governor Gregg Abbott visited Tuesday the Sorek seawater desalination plant as part of an economic development mission to Israel, hosted by IDE CEO Avshalom Felber.
During his visit, the Governor expressed his intention to partner with Israeli technology companies like IDE, which is a world leader in water treatment, to develop and deploy water solutions for Texas, Israel and the world. Governor Abbott noted that water supply security is a key component to the economic competitiveness of Texas. He also recognized the importance of the private and public sectors working together to establish water infrastructure. Governor Abbott stressed that drought will return to Texas and that seawater desalination should be part of the solution to assure Texas does not run short of water.
