IDE’s Desalination Units Chosen to Expand Desalination Plant in Asia
Desalination units to meet increased water capacity needs with lowest energy consumption
Kadima, Israel, August 27, 2013 – IDE Technologies today announced that a large private sector company has ordered Multi-Effect Distillation (MED) desalination units to increase the capacity of a desalination plant in Asia. Chosen for its reliability, high efficiency and track record of success, IDE’s MED solution will meet the plant’s increased capacity needs and provide high quality boiler feed water, as well as drinking water for local consumption.
With a financial scope of approximately $75 million, the new MED units will each yield a capacity of 24,000 m³/day (6 million gallons) of highly pure processed water, increasing the plant’s total desalination capacity to 232,000 m³/day (61 million gallons per day). In addition to having low energy consumption and requiring minimal pretreatment, IDE’s MED solution provides inherent stability and automatic control. This reduces the need for labor and maintenance, thereby lowering operational costs.
“Our MED units prove that eco-awareness, operational innovation and cost savings can go hand in hand,” said Avshalom Felber, CEO of IDE Technologies. “We look forward to supplying water for one of the largest seawater desalination plants in Asia.”
