Ashkelon Awarded by IDS for Outstanding Achievement
Late December 2006, in a ceremony attended by the General Manager of the Ministry of National Infrastructures the Israeli Desalination Society (IDS) commended IDE’s Asheklon Desalination Plant (100Mcm/y), with a Special Award for Outstanding Achievement.
This Award further solidifies IDE’s position as a desalination leader after its Ashkelon Project won the lucrative Global Water Awards last year, whereby, thousands of industry professionals from around the world named the Project "Desalination Plant of the year".
IDS’s Committee noted that being the largest and most advanced desalination plant of its type in the world, the Ashkelon Project represents a major global advance in the technology and economics of Large Scale Seawater Desalination.
According to the Committee: “Designers have taken an original approach which enables reduction of product rates while reaching high plant efficiency, reliability, simplicity of O&M and flexibility in operation under varying water demand conditions.”
The award applauded the Project for its successful financing, and its completion on time and within the budget, while meeting all design and product parameters imposed by the final customer, the Israeli Government, saying it was a significant achievement in a project of this size.
