IDE wins Hadera bid for another 100M m3/yr SWRO plant in Israel

Awarded 100M cu.m/yr project. This win further stregthens IDE's position as a  desalination world leader and its dominanace in the Israeli desalination market.

The winning group jointly owned by IDE Technologies Ltd. and Housing and Construction will finance, construct and operate a 100 million cubic meters per year plant which will help solve Israel’s severe water shortage. The plant will be constructed on the “Rabin Lights” Hadera Power Station grounds. IDE Technologies which is owned in equal shares by ICL and the Delek Group is also the leading partner in (VID’s) largest and most advanced desalination facility in the world, which has started operating in Ashkelon last year.

General Manager of the winning group H2ID who also serves as General Manager of VID and IDE’s VP Ventures, Gustavo Kronenberg: “we are proud of the faith which the Tender Committee has vested in us. The award will allow us to continue contributing towards boosting the Israeli Water Scheme and enhancing Israel’s position as a global leader in the field of desalination.”

H2ID a partnership of IDE Technologies and Housing and Construction has won the tender for the establishment of a seawater desalination plant in a designated area within the grounds of the Hadera Power Plant. The plant will produce some 100 Million cubic meters of high quality potable water per year. The agreement to be signed with the government of Israel will be based on the BOT principle whereby the entrepreneurs finance and construct the desalination plants on the State’s land which is made available to them. They operate the plant as a private business, and sell the water to the government of Israel at a pre-defined price, over a period of 25 years (including the construction period).  At the end of the contract period, the plant is handed over and becomes government property.

The Hadera desalination facility will utilize Reverse Osmosis technology, a modern process technology used in a variety of water desalination applications. The facility will provide high-quality drinking water, while making use of innovative technologies implemented by IDE in its factories throughout the world.

IDE Technologies Ltd.’s General Manager, Mr. Avshalom Felber said that, “IDE’s extensive know-how and experience in the provision of high quality water applications accumulated in over 360 different desalination plants and facilities, supplied to over 40 countries, has served as a sound basis for award of the tender.”

H2ID’s General Manager, Mr. Gustavo Kronenberg said "the group is pleased about the faith vested in it by the Tender Committee." Kronenberg said that he was sure that much like the acclaimed Ashkelon Plant, the Hadera Plant is bound to contribute to the Israeli water scheme and strengthen Israel’s position as world leader in the field of desalination.
