IDE wins 2 desalination projects in India
IDE is expanding its activity in India by winning two projects to supply a total of 3 MVC desalination units for $9.5 million. Both projects are repeat orders by existing customers, and deliveries are due over the next 12-15 months.
The first project is for the supply of a second desalination unit for a cement plant in Gujarat, Western India. The thermal plant will produce 3,000 cubic meters of filtered water a day for use in steam generators. IDE's existing plant on site produces 5,500 cubic meters of filtered water a day, and has been in operation since 2002.
IDE's MVC 3,000 cu.m/day unit is world's largest MVC unit , and the 5th unit of its kind supplied by IDE in India.
The second project is for the supply of two desalination units of 1,200 cubic meters a day capacity for a new Gas production facility near Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, India. The first unit is expected to turn operational by mid 2008.
This client already has four MED 12,000 cu.m/day and an MED 15,000 cu.m/day by IDE in its refinery in Jamnagar, Gujarat which are operating to the Client’s full satisfaction. Last year, the client has ordered 4 additional MED-24,000 cu.m/day units required for the Refinery expansion. Following the installation of these units the Jamnagar refinery will boast world's largest single site MED plant.
IDE has been active in India for over a decade, and will have supplied 20 desalination plants, including the latest orders, which produce aggregate 200,000 cubic meters of pure water a day.
"The new contracts in India, which are repeat orders from existing customers, demonstrate the continued faith vested in IDE and the level of satisfaction by its clients. IDE’s ability to provide solutions that are tailor made to the client’s needs is once again confirmed, as well as its capability to design and implement sophisticated and reliable seawater desalination solutions producing high quality water for industry production and for the benefit of surrounding communities." said Avshalom Felber, President and Chief Executive Officer of IDE Technologies Ltd.
