Industrial Evaporation
IDE’s industrial evaporation solutions are highly cost-effective, eco-friendly systems for treating plant effluents, reclaiming industrial waste water, concentrating brines and recapturing valuable by-products.
For water-intensive industries such as power stations, oil & gas refineries, chemical manufacturers, pulp & paper industries and others, the value proposition is clear: a significant reduction in operating costs, a dramatic reduction in water usage - and progress towards the goal of Zero Level Discharge (ZLD).
IDE’s modular mechanical and thermal vapor compression evaporators can also be used as flexible, cost-effective desalination solutions for assuring a reliable, continuous supply of highly-pure input water.
IDE tailors each installation to site-specific conditions to assure optimal performance with minimized operational and maintenance costs.
Benefits
• Reduced water consumption
• Reduced effluents
• Compliance with strict ZLD regulations
• Capture of revenue-producing by-products
• Ease of operation
• High energy efficiency
• Robust and reliable
Heavy Duty Evaporator (HDE) Units for ZLD - Zero Liquid Discharge
Leveraging IDE’s four decades of desalination and plant-building experience, IDE's Heavy Duty Evaporator (HDE) units are able to achieve Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) solutions that lead the industry in functionality and energy efficiency.
IDE’s Heavy Duty Evaporator (HDE) solutions are uniquely effective and cost-efficient concentrators for industrial brines - even those that contain hard scale-forming compounds.
IDE's HDE units are designed to recover water and by-products from highly polluted industrial effluents, such as those produced by petroleum refineries, chemical processing plants and pulp & paper plants.
IDE offers two types of HDEs: an electrically driven Mechanical Vapor Compression Heavy Duty Evaporator (MVC HDE); and a Thermal Vapor Compression Heavy Duty Evaporator (TVC HDE), motivated by low pressure steam.
Features & Technology
• Modular units for maximum flexibility: IDE’s HDE units range in capacity from 250 to 25,000 m3/day
per unit.
• Highest-efficiency, field-proven technology: IDE’s HDE solutions use a proprietary horizontal tube
falling film evaporator – a single or-multi-effect process in which feed water is sprayed over
horizontal tube bundles and repeatedly evaporated and condensed under vacuum, each time at a
lower temperature and pressure.
• Flexible power options: If waste steam is available on site as a by-product of manufacturing
operations, it can be re-used to power IDE’s Thermal Vapor Compression Heavy Duty Evaporator (TVC
HDE) system. IDE’s electrically-driven Mechanical Vapor Compression Heavy Duty Evaporators (MVC
HDE) are suitable for sites in which electricity is the only available power source.
• Skid-mounted modular design: minimizes infrastructure needs and on-site assembly efforts.
• Feed water flow on outside of tubes: minimizes the potential for scaling and fouling.
• Easy-to-operate: operation is automatic with minimal on-site supervision needed.
• Economical and durable design: minimal use of moving parts increases system reliability; innovative
design prevents galvanic and pitting corrosion
