Water Sale (PFI)

Water Sale (PFI)

IDE's water sale concept complies with the customers' request to supply large quantities of water over long periods of time. This concept is usually suitable for the needs of government and municipal authorities and is based on the BOT/BOO (Build, Own, Operate, Transfer / Build, Own, Operate) method.
Within the framework of such projects, the developer finances, builds, owns and operates the facility as a private enterprise for a pre-established time period, and for a fixed water fee. At the end of said period the developer transfers ownership of the facility to the client. Although the BOT concept is based on a fixed time period, in certain cases the customer has the option to purchase the entire desalination plant at any time.

The nature of the BOT/BOO structure offers the following contractual advantages:

• Guaranteed cost per cubic meter of product for the duration of the contract
• Depreciated capital cost over duration of contract
• Facility financing
• Support of design and construction by operator
• Reliable design and construction
• Potential growth for future technological improvements
• Take-or-pay water purchase agreements
