General Laborer
General Labor personnel are responsible to assist on a daily basis with operations and maintenance tasks. They will be both knowledgeable and qualified to carry out their designated work. All work and tasks are to be performed in a safe and efficient manner. Successful General Labor personnel learn quickly, are self-motivated and have the ability to work under pressure in varying conditions.
Job Description
- Perform daily activities as organized and planned by the O&M management team
- Collaborate with a small team of technicians and/or operators
- Become fully familiar with the operation and equipment of the plant
- Fully aware of the direct safety hazards involved with any particular job assignment and all other hazards in and around the plant
- Commitment to health & safety while performing all aspects of duties
- Assist in carrying out controlled startups and shut downs of the plant under supervision from management
- Assist in maintenance routines and equipment repairs on all mechanical equipment
- Inform Supervisors of any defects or irregularities
- Assist with daily check and repairs
- Ability to follow instructions
- Assisting to maintain all plant and equipment integrity
- Assisting personnel to take samples and readings around the plant
- Assist maintaining and organizing, tools and workshop area
- Assist in the clean-up of the RO facility and around the plant
- Assist with warehouse/workshop clerical duties
- Painting as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized warehouse and parts inventory
- Assist with checking daily levels on chemical tanks
- Ensure work is performed properly and safely
- Attend training related to the plant at the discretion of the company
- Assist with preventative and predictive maintenance
- Operate machinery such as: forklift, scissor lifts
- Ability to work with power drills, grinders, saws, etc.
- Cleanup work sites
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- Basic mathematical skills
- Experience in heavy industries preferred
- Experience with parts inventory and warehouse operations preferred
- Possession of a valid California driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
- Ability to read and understand manuals in English
- Ability to operate forklift and flatbed (license preferred)
- Computer skills such as: Microsoft office is a plus
- Ability to work weekends, overtime, and holiday when necessary
- Ability to work overtime and be on 24 hour call when needed
- Successfully pass a background check, pre-employment physical and drug test
- Experience handling/working with HAZARD chemicals is a plus
